NEWS- Dokolo District Women Member of Uganda’s 11th Parliament Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal has on Thursday morning been pronounced dead.
The powerful legislator and former Miss Uganda, Cecilia Ogwal succumbed to cancer at a hospital in India at the age of 77.
A close family member told this reporter that “Mama Cecilia Ogwal is no more, she is gone,” an anonymous source narrated
By press time, Chris Obore, the 11th Parliamentary spokesperson was yet to respond to calls seeking comment on the development.
Ogwal has been serving as a member of the parliamentary Committee of Physical Infrastructure in charge of overseeing and covering policy matters related to Lands, Housing, Urban development, Works and Transport, and Physical Planning as well as a member of the budget committee.
Born on 12th June 1946, Ogwal, who was a defence contractor and management consultant, has been a Member of Uganda’s legislature continuously since 1996. In 1969, at the age of 23, she won the “Miss Uganda” contest.
