RUKUNGIRI- The Rukungiri District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Midius Natukunda Kaharata, has called on the public to support the government’s proposal to use the parish as the foundation for inclusive and sustainable community development.
Speaking during the NRM parish-level elections held at Rubanga Church of Uganda in Kishonga Lower Cell, Rubanga South Parish in Buyanja Sub-county, Rukungiri District, Natukunda urged citizens to maintain the current level of peace, unity, maturity, and cooperation, noting that these values are key to achieving prosperity from the parish up to the sub-county level.
During the same event, Pastor Brian Tumukunde, the acting pastor at God’s Embassy Church in Bunura Cell, Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, was elected unopposed as the mainstream chairperson for Rubanga South Parish.
Hon. Natukunda emphasized the importance of teamwork and commitment among newly elected parish leaders, saying these values will enable them to effectively serve their communities and address local needs.
The legislator also reminded parents of their responsibility to protect children’s rights and to make decisions that ensure their children’s proper development until they are capable of living independently.
Natukunda congratulated Pastor Tumukunde on his unopposed victory and encouraged him to cooperate with other NRM structures, including the Youth League, Women’s League, Veterans’ League, and the League for Persons with Disabilities.

In his acceptance remarks, Pastor Tumukunde urged the public to elect leaders who reflect their vision. He pledged to serve the people of Rubanga South Parish diligently, prioritizing community development and addressing local concerns.
