MITOOMA- Residents of Bukongoro parish in Mutara Town Council, Mitooma district on Friday December 29th 2023 woke up to joy and excitement after seeing 3.5 Km water Pipes being delivered to their area.
It should be noted that area residents have for long yawned for National Water and Sewerage Corporation water plus electricity but they are now assured that all these are already in progress in their community.
Lack of clean water has been a great problem to the whole Mitooma district for long time but a clap of thanks goes to the government of Uganda and Members of Parliament especially Hon Agasha Juliet and Hon Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda as well as other district leaders who pushed hard for Mitooma district to get its own NWSC service centre/branch a year and six months ago since it used to benefit from Bushenyi district which could not let services be delivered in time.
Apart from Bukongoro where they received their water pipes, this publication visited Sazinga, Omukempungu in Rurehe, Kichwamba in Kyeibaare and residents confirmed as they will receive their own NWSC water within a shortest period of time because the whole process is complete and for long has been there dream.
Now, the problem remains electricity but as per information got from area MPs, all the paperwork is done and they are only waiting for money to be released from responsible authorities so that people starting with those of Bukongoro and all parts of Ruhinda South plus Mitooma atlarge get electricity in time.
Our reporter spoke to Muruhura Kassim, Chairman LCI Bukongoro 4, and he was so surprised to see pipes in his area because the process has for long been failing but now he already sees bread on his table. Muruhura says he now believes that when leaders are out of the constituency, they are always lobbying for their people.
Damon Nasasira, the Mayor Mutara Town council said this is a great achievement and asked residents to always give support to their leaders plus giving them a room/chance to work without letting them down most especially on developmental projects.
Bakahanga Christine, Lady Councilor Mutara Town Council and Sub – county thanked their Members of Parliament for working hard and assured people that though all problems cannot be solved at once, but as leaders they are ready to sort one by one so that their voters can live in a good and improved society.
Natumanya Geofrey thanked Hon Juliet Bashisha and Hon Kahonda for being young, energetic, courageous and hardworking leaders who have now brought a good name to the district. Natumanya wants Ugandans to always support their leaders most especially in fulfilling government programs and promises.
Andrew Karamuzi, Mitooma district NWSC Manager thanked the government of Uganda for giving an opportunity to Ugandans to always get better services and assured them that they already have a program of extending piped water to all parts of Mitooma district.
Shortly after delivering the pipes, Hon Agasha Juliet (Mitooma district Woman MP) told this website that as leaders they are always busy lobbying for their people and will always do it because the electorate is their family.
Hon Juliet thanked the government of Uganda for always fulfilling their promises, in an additional voice thanking His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for supporting his people and leaders from the local level.
Hon Captain Mugabe Dononzio Kahonda (Ruhinda South MP) tasked leaders at all levels to always work together so as to build a strong foundation for better service delivery to the society. Kahinda also tasked Ugandans to always avoid overspeeding during festive seasons because life needs continue thereafter.
“Don’t eat everything during christmas, you have families and you will be yawning in January and February looking for school fees. I therefore request you to eat less and save much”, Hon Kahonda advises Ugandans.
The pipes were received by residents, Councilors, NWSC and local leaders at Bukongoro Health Centre in Bukongoro parish, Mutaara Town council in Mitooma district on Friday 29th December 2023.
