KAMPALA- Members of parliament on the Presidential committee of parliament want tough religious policy on religious and faith-based organizations, noting that they have vulgarized the word of God when the directorate of religious Affairs is intervening.
Some MPs like the UPDF representative Major General Henry Masiko and Rushenyi county MP Naome Kabasharira said that some religious leaders preach sectarianism and promote the extortion of money from believers.
The committee was interfacing with the Minister of State for Ethics and integrity Lilly Akello and the permanent secretary at the Directorate of Ethics and Integrity Alex Okello.
Masiko asked the directorate of Ethics and integrity to assist the religious institutions and faith-based organizations in preaching God and goodness instead of extorting money and promoting ritual practices.

The committee chairperson who doubles as the MP for Isingiro South MP Alex Byarugaba said that the government should get interested in the recent closure of more than 400 churches in Rwanda because some of them have relocated to Uganda.
