President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Jimmy Nambiro as the Private Secretary to the President for Education and Skilling, a strategic position tasked with supporting the government’s focus on education transformation and vocational empowerment across the country.

The appointment was officially confirmed through an instrument of appointment signed by the State House Comptroller, Jane Barekye, placing Nambiro at the center of national policy efforts aimed at uplifting the quality and accessibility of education and practical skills development in Uganda.

In his acceptance message, Nambiro expressed deep appreciation to the President and the First Lady, Mama Janet Museveni, who also serves as Minister of Education and Sports, for entrusting him with this responsibility. “I am honored and humbled by the trust and confidence the President and Mama Janet Museveni have placed in him.

Jimmy Nambiro brings with him a wealth of experience, both in education leadership and public service and until his new appointment, he was serving as the Assistant Resident City Commissioner (ARCC) in Mbale City, where he was instrumental in coordinating government programs and community development efforts.

In addition to his role in public administration, Nambiro is an accomplished educator with over two decades of experience and has served as Head Teacher at institutions like Covenant Day and Boarding Primary School, Bugangu Primary School, and St Peter C.O.U Primary School.

In all these roles, he provided strategic leadership, oversaw curriculum implementation, and supported student welfare. He is also known for his time with Kings Kids Africa, a US-based international organization, where he managed educational programs across East Africa.

Nambiro holds a Bachelor of Science with Education (Primary) from Bugema University, and a Grade V Certificate from Nyondo Core Primary Teachers’ College and his commitment to continuous professional development is evident from numerous trainings and certifications, including Education Management, Project Planning and Monitoring, Leadership in Education, and Psycho-Social Support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children, many of which were held in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Makerere University and international organizations.

He has also been an active figure in political mobilization, serving as NRM Media Coordinator for Butaleja District and as Chairman of the Office of the National Chairman for the Bukedi Sub-Region, reflecting his deep ties with the ruling party and grassroots networks.

Nambiro has fluency in several local languages and a strong background in both teaching and community engagement and is expected to bring hands-on insight and effective communication to his new office. His appointment is seen as a bridge between national education goals and local implementation, particularly in areas of youth skilling, curriculum reform, and school leadership development.

Society believes that with his experience in both the classroom and public service, Nambiro is well-placed to support Uganda’s journey toward an education system that not only delivers knowledge but equips learners with real-world skills.
