RUKUNGIRI– The former Forum for Democratic Change party president and the four times presidential candidate Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye Kifefe has urged Ugandans to fight for their rights and freedoms citing that the current regime doesn’t care about them at all.

According to the Katonga FDC faction team leader, like all other previous leaders, “Museveni has no ears” and so he will not listen to their problems.

The long time opposition figure said all these in a consultative meeting held on 5th April 2024 in Rukungiri main stadium, Katenga cell, Rwakabengo ward in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality while addressing FDC leaders and supporters from Kanungu and Rukungiri Districts.

Col. Dr. Besigye noted that Ugandans are on their own and so they should fight for themselves to get “authority” as nobody else will have to.

Besigye was in company of other FDC Katonga faction leaders including Amb. Waswa Birigwa, Hon. Salaam Musumba, Hon. Francis Mwijukye, Hon Harold Kaija, Hon. Asinansi Nyakato Kamanda, Hon. Mugume Roland Kaginda, Hon. Naboth Namanya, Hon. Ingrid Kamateneti Turinawe (TIK), among many others.

It’s from this consultation that FDC leaders and supporters from the two districts endorsed the formation of a new political party by the FDC Katonga faction leaders in a bid to revive their strength.

According to Mr. Aloysius Mugarura the Rukungiri district FDC chairperson and Mr. Vian Sunday the Kanungu district FDC leader, the resolution to endorse the new political party formation by the Katonga faction was from their previous meetings with party committees in their respective districts.

Among the resolutions was also the endorsement of Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye Kifefe as the team leader of the newly to be formed political party so as to continue with the struggle to liberate this country.

FDC Katonga faction leaders led by Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye Kifefe were massively welcomed in the ‘home of FDC’ Rukungiri by their supporters in the district and Kanungu as well.

It should be remembered that FDC split into two factions that is Katonga and Najjanankumbi following what was termed to be ‘evil money’ that entered their party suspected from President Museveni and his NRM through Hon. Nandala Mafabi, the party Secretary General and Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the party president.
