The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) on Friday hosts the 3rd Edition of the National Environment Sustainability Awards (NESA) 2026 at Serena Hotel Kampala under the theme “Innovation for Climate Resilience.”
The Minister of Water and Environment Maj. Gen. (Rtd.) Kahiinda Otafire will be Chier Guest; and Governor Bank of Uganda Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego will give the keynote speech. The event will bring together leaders from government, the private sector, academia, civil society, local governments, media, and other communities.
The Award s recognise and celebrate outstanding individuals, institutions, organisations, companies,and communities that demonstrate exceptional commitment to environmental conservation, climat action, innovation, and sustainable development, while promoting environmental stewardship through the ecognition of excellence, encouragement of innovation, public awareness, partnerships, and compliance with environmental laws and standards.
This year’s awards cover a wide range of categories including climate change research and innovation, biodiversity conservation, waste-to-resource initiatives, limate finance, environmental journalism, pollution control technologies, Iow-carbor development, green manufacturing, climate-transformative leadership, fragile ecosystem conservation, and community-based climate resilience initiatives.
The winners were selected through a rigorous evaluation process involving independent experts, field verification exercises, due diligence, and assessment against established environmental sustainability criteria.
NEMA congratulates all nominees and finalists and thanks its partners and stakeholders for supporting environmental sustainability efforts across the country.
