Kebisoni Town Council National Resistance Movement Turnbul Akampa Rugaba has urged Party leaders especially those who aspired to contest LC I Chairpersons seat as independents to revisit their decisions and rally behind the party flag bearers.
Akampa Rugaba made the remarks today while addressing the NRM leaders at Kebisoni Town Council headquarters ahead of the starting of starting of the Baraza and campaign due July 22nd.
The meeting was attended by the NRM LC I flagbearers, the Town Council Chairperson and the Women leaders, NRM District councilors and Sub-county NRM executives, the Sub-county GISO and selected opinion leaders.
Akampa Rugaba thanked the leaders for mobilising for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and other NRM candidates in the recent general election and urged them to keep up the pace and ensure that the LC I Chairpersons seats are retained and by the NRM candidates.
He noted that, when the NRM LC I seats are taken by the party candidates, it will be easy for the implementation of services because the chain of delivery will remain intact.
While speaking at the same venue, the Rukungiri District NRM Chairperson for the Elderly, George Byaruhanga Ruraka urged all those who were nominated as independents yet they had been in the Party to reconsider their decisions and rally behind the party flagbearers.
Rukungiri District NRM Secretary General Paul Rukundo Rwabihurwa also rallied all NRM supporters not to be swayed by vote buying politicians and rally behind the party candidates.
He said that there are some NRM leaders who are working scenes and campaigning for the independents and or the opposition, to stop the practice and support the party flagbearers.
According to the NRM Secretary General, the LC system is the fulcrum that runs the government service delivery and it’s fundamental that the LC I positions are occupied by the NRM carders and called on the party members to tighten vigilance and ensure that NRM wins.
He said that the mandate does not end with the elections but the party will ensure that they are ideologically attuned to the philosophical of the party by carrying out trainings starting from the village to the district.
