NRM SG Richard Twodong

KAMPALA- The National Resistance Movement Secretary General Hon Richard Todwong has today briefed the media on the 10-day final verification exercise of the party membership register that is ongoing at the party headquarters.

Hon Todwong said the Secretariat hired a team of data experts on March 22nd to crosscheck village-by-village details, and members’ National Identification Numbers and ensure the village codes are all correct.

“This stage is very sensitive and that is why we closed off the offices to allow the teams to concentrate on ensuring everything is done right,” Todwong told the media.

Hon Todwong said that the party is also going to use the opportunity to screen and separate members below 18 from those above so that we remain with actual voters ahead of the structure and primary elections and shall later synchronize this information with data of the National Electoral Commission and NIRA to understand how many of NRM members are registered in the national register.

Hon Todwong said that after the completion of the activity, the Secretariat with guidance from the Central Executive Committee (CEC) will release the electoral roadmap for both structure and primary elections.

The Communications Director of NRM, Hon Emmanuel Dombo Lumala reiterated that the Secretariat offices are closed to give the Secretary General and his team ample time to produce a fine register for all members.

He assured NRM members and the general public of the party’s commitment to do due diligence to produce a trusted and all-inclusive masterpiece database and this exercise brings to an end a one-year update, verification and digitization process of the NRM membership register that began last year in March. The media briefing was also attended by the Party’s Deputy National Treasurer Hon Jacqueline Kyatuheire.
