NEWS– The NRM Secretary General Hon Richard Todwong has praised the Busoga Kingdom for its instrumental role in fostering unity and inclusivity among Ugandans.

Hon Todwong made the commendation as he led a delegation of Senior National Resistance Movement leaders who included the party National Treasurer, Ambassador Barbara Nekesa Oundo, the Director of Mobilization, Hon Rosemary Seninde Nansubuga and the NRM Electoral Commission Commissioner Hon Alisemera Babiiha to present a donation of Ugx 30 million towards the Busoga Royal Wedding.

Todwong said that National Resistance Movement profoundly grateful to the Busoga Kingdom for their exceptional hospitality and their pivotal role in fostering a unified Uganda and acknowledged that Busoga serves as a melting pot, where tribes from across the nation converge, working harmoniously to contribute to our country’s development.

Hon Todwong also conveyed his appreciation to the Kyabazinga for his unwavering support to the government’s poverty alleviation initiatives.

While receiving the money, the Katukiro of Busoga Kingdom, Dr Joseph Muvawala, acknowledged the NRM party for their deep respect for the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage, exemplified by their significant contribution to the forthcoming royal wedding.

“In our kingdom, culture holds profound emotional significance, evoking strong sentiments. It is the duty of both government and political parties to tap into these sentiments. The emotions we share today are deeply ingrained ” Muvawala said.

He further emphasized that their expectations from the NRM party revolve around harnessing these emotions for the betterment of both their party and the nation as a whole and expressed his gratitude for the NRM party leadership’s affection for Busoga and their remarkable contributions to the region.

Meanwhile the National Resistance Movement Secretary General Hon. Richard Todwong yesterday paid a courtesy call to the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, His Grace Paul Ssemogerere at his office in Rubaga.

The two had a wonderful discussion on how the church and the party in government can cooperate in serving the people of Kampala and Uganda at large.

“Like we have always been saying, the church and government always work together to improve the livelihood of our people. The church is open to guide us as leaders in terms of how we can attend to the vulnerable people and members of the community”, Hon Todwong said.

Hon Todwong conveyed greetings President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the National Chairman of the party and all members of the NRM to the Archbishop.

Archbishop Semogerere welcomed the Secretary-General saying that he had got a good moment of sharing on different issues and described the meeting as a courtesy call and a rare moment for the two to share about their faith and offered blessings.

The Secretary General Todwong was accompanied by the Rubaga Deputy Resident City Commissioner Anderson Burora.
