UGANDA- The Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa has urged NRM supporters in Ruhinda North in Mitooma District, to stay united during and after the party primaries and encouraged losers to continue supporting the party to help it prepare for the 2026 elections and strengthen efforts to deliver essential services.

Rt Hon Tayebwa was speaking at his LC 1 village in Kigarama in Bitereko Sub-county where he participated in the supervision of the elections and got time to understand their concerns.

Meanwhile the NRM Secretary General, Hon Richard Todwong, oversaw the village barazas and election of LC1 flagbearers in several Wards in Purongo Town Council in Nwoya District where he urged the newly elected local leaders to actively identify and address community challenges, ensuring effective service delivery for their people.

In Kanungu District. Jacqueline Kyatuheire, the NRM Deputy National Treasurer, Hon Jacqueline Kyatuheire made a significant visit several polling stations in the District where she actively supervised the ongoing NRM village Baraza meetings and the election of party structures in various villages.

Hon Kyatuheire emphasized the importance of transparency, unity, and integrity in the electoral process and  encouraged the voters to be honest and vote for credible, committed leaders who will lay a strong foundation for the future of the party both at the grassroots and national levels.

She reminded members that the strength of NRM begins at village level, and it is therefore vital to choose leaders who are dedicated, trustworthy, and people-oriented and applauded the enthusiasm of the local communities and expressed confidence that the elected structures would uphold the values of the party and serve diligently.

In the same development, the Prime Minister of Uganda Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja has today participated in the verification of the party members’ register during a Baraza held at Kinena A Cell in Kakumiro Town Council in Kakumiro district.

The Prime Minister who is also the Kakumiro District Woman Member of Parliament also witnessed the process of voting for the NRM LC1 flag bearer and the village structure where in her village and most neighbouring villages, the consensus approach was applied and all leaders went through unopposed.

According to the Kakumiro district NRM Registrar  Gonzaga Byaruhanga, today’s exercise went on smoothly in all the 585 villages of Kakumiro district  and has registered remarkable turn up.

Similar activities took place nationwide across all 72,000 NRM polling stations and in Kayungwe LC 1 , the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi who flew there in a UPDF Helicopter was elected the Secretary for Publicity.

Meanwhile the NRM National Treasurer Ambassador Barbara Nekesa Oudo took part in the NRM village structure and LC1 flag bearer polls at Sichehe village in Masafu Town Council in Busia District whereby consensus of village members, all the 30 positions were filled with no voting required, an act that Ambassador Nekesa commended as mature.
