NEWS- The Deputy Treasurer of the National Resistance Movement Hon Jacqueline Kyatuheire has implored the students of St Theresa Calcutta in Kihihi Town Council to identify their targets and be able achieve them during their lifetime.
Hon Kyatuheire made the remarks November 17th 2023, while delivering a career guidance motivational talk at St Theresa Calcutta that started 16 years ago which she said has helped mould many girls into professionals who have become useful to their families, communities and the country at large.
Hon Kyatuheire hailed the School Management and other stakeholders who have seen the school exist since 2007 when it was started and assured them that she will continue to support.
Hon Kyatuheire observed that despite being a rural school, St Theresa Calcutta has managed to offer quality education especially to the scientists who have passed through the school while others have become lawyers, economists and social social workers.
She rewarded the resilient pioneer teachers who include the Headteacher Sr Petronilla Kyomugisha who have kept the school standing by giving each of them start-up capital worth Ugx 1 million and promised them a social trip to Rwanda capital Kigali at a time of their convenience.
According to Headteacher Kyomugisha the school currently has a total of 240 students and about 30 Teaching and Non Teaching staff and is one of the best performing schools in Kanungu District.
Sr Petronilla said that, as management and staff they were humbled by the long lasting support Hon Kyatuheire has extended to St Theresa Calcutta, since she has been attending to the social needs of the school ever since it started.
St Theresa Girls Calcutta is an all girls private, Boarding Secondary School run by a congregation of Mary Mother of the Church and located in Kihihi Town Council in Kanungu District and has curved out itself as one of the schools excelling in science subjects.
All the pioneer teachers at St Theresa Calcutta in Kanungu District got a pig each as startup capital, a reward from Hon Jacqueline Kyatuheire.
