A half naked protestor being arrested by Police

KAMPALA- Three jailed law students of Makerere University have been granted bail by Buganda Road Magistrates Court for allegedly staging a nude protest at parliament.

The trio; Praise Aloikin, Norah Kobusingye and Kemitoma Kyenzibo have been released by Chief magistrate Ronald Kayizzi.

The students have been ordered to pay a non-cash bond of 1 million shillings each and each of their sureties including prof. Sylvia Tamale and Dr. Kabumba Busingye ordered to execute a court bond of 2 million shillings to ensure their return in Court whenever required.

Now the case has been adjourned until October 1st 2024 for mention of the case.

The three have been on remand at Luzira Women Prison since September 2nd 2024 todate on charges of being a common nuisance.

The group which had their naked bodies ( breasts) painted in Uganda national colours of Red , Black and yellow also had different inscriptions on their bodies and held Placards calling for the resignation of the speaker of parliament over corruption.

Prosecution states that the accused persons inconvenienced and caused annoyance to the public by staging a half -naked protest in the middle of parliamentary avenue on September 2nd 2024.
