The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kabale has today February 19th 2026 afternoon, released on bail Ms Jolly Jackline Tukamushaba, the Deputy President for Western Uganda of the National Unity Platform.
Ms Tukamushaba, who contested as the National Unity Platform flag bearer for the Rukiga District Woman MP seat in the recently concluded elections, reportedly disappeared on January 14th sparking concern among her family, friends and supporters after she had been abducted by armed men in uniform and driven away in a drone vehicle.
Police later issued a statement confirming that Ms Tukamushaba was in lawful detention on allegations of inciting violence and on February 6th she was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate of Kabale, His Worship Derick Byamugisha and charged with inciting violence.

Upon the charges being read and explained to her, Ms Tukamushaba entered a plea of not guilty and was subsequently remanded to Ndorwa Government Prison until February 24th, to allow the State to complete its investigations, but her counsel, Godwin Masereka, applied for a production warrant and was produced in court for the hearing of her bail application.
The defence lawyers presented 4 substantial sureties who included Leopold Twesigye, Emmanuel Turyasigura, Twesigye Luke and Jiripina Kamusiime and the court found the sureties suitable and granted Tukamushaba cash bail of Ugx1 million and each of the four sureties was bonded at Ugx 5 million non-cash and the case has been adjourned to February 24th 2026, when she is expected to return to court for further hearing.
