Saturday Monthly cleaning is taking center stage as Nyamwegabira PS pupils jubilant after cleaning

Pupils and teachers of Nyamwegabira Primary School have today joined the rest of the country in marking the National Cleaning Day with a community cleaning exercise.

The school community participated in sweeping and collecting rubbish around trading centres surrounding the school.

The exercise started at Nyamwegabira Centre and covered Senate Trading Centre, areas around the Parish headquarters and other neighbouring centres.

Pupils, armed with brooms and sacks, were seen sweeping roads, picking plastic bottles and polythene bags, and unclogging drainage channels, as teachers supervised and joined in the activity.

The teachers said the activity was aimed at instilling a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility among learners and encouraging the community to maintain a clean environment.

Local residents appreciated the initiative by the school, saying the trading centres had been left cleaner and calling on other schools and institutions to emulate the example.

The National Cleaning Day is observed every last Saturday of the month to promote hygiene, sanitation and environmental protection across the country.
