KABALE- The Bishops Annual Appeal Fund Collection has today come to a climax with a total collection of Ugx 1.9 billion from all the Catholic Parishes in Kabale diocese surpassing the targeted Ugx 1.5 billion.
Kabale Diocese launched the Bishops Annual Appeal Fund last year seeking to raise a total of Ugx 1.5 billion aimed at completing a commercial building in Kabale Municipality, located on plot 10 along the Kabale – Mbarara Road.
While Officiation as the Chief Guest, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi who represented the Vice President Major Jessica Alupo Epel announced that a total of Ugx 1.90 has been collected so far and thanked all stakeholders, leaders and contributors who made it possible.
According to this year Bishop Annual Appeal Fund Chairman Central Organising Committee, Alex Baguma the collections was clustered into Districts of Kisoro, Rubanda, Kabale, Rukiga, Rukungiri and Kisoro and Rukungiri emerged the best with the highest collections of over Ugx 300 million.
The event was graced by a delegation from the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council from Kigezi Region led by Kanungu District Khadhi Sheikh Abudalla Mpabuka and in attendance was Minister Henry Musasizi, Members of Parliament, District Council Chairpersons, Kabale Municipality Mayor and Dustrict Councillors from Kigezi.
The Bishop of Kabale Diocese Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira thanked all stakeholders who participated in the funds collection and said that their contributions will have a lasting impression on the coming generations for the projects that are being put up in their communities.
