Parents of Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School in Nyeihanga cell, Kyabukuju ward, Rubaare Town Council, have expressed joy and gratitude after embracing support secured for learners through the school director and Orthodox Bishop Robert Baluku.

The outreach took place on 18th September 2026, when parents and pupils gathered at the school premises to receive essential items from Arise and Shine Ministries Uganda, a non-governmental organization partnering with the school to improve learners’ welfare.

The organization donated shoes, bottles, and other learning and support items aimed at easing the burden on parents and enhancing children’s preparedness for school.

Items Handed Over to 225 Pupils

A total of 225 pupils benefited from the donation. The items were formally handed over to the learners by Bishop Robert Baluku of the Orthodox Church during the event held at the school in Nyeihanga cell.

Speaking to parents and pupils, Bishop Baluku urged them to use the items for their intended purpose and cautioned against misusing the materials or selling them out.

He also shared plans for further community and school development initiatives that are still under consideration, including safe water, electricity, a health facility, and a community ambulance, to improve services for both learners and residents.

Education Leaders Urge Commitment

During the event, Hon. Enos Kangume, the Rubaare Town Council LCIII Councilor and also Secretary for Education, appealed to teachers to remain focused and dedicated.

Hon. Kangume emphasized that the progress of the school depends on several key partners—parents, teaching staff, compliance by the board of directors, and close support from the district education department.

He also issued a stern warning to parents to stop the practice of withdrawing children from the school to join other institutions, noting that frequent transfers disrupt pupils’ academic continuity and affect performance throughout their education journey.

Headteacher Advises on Love and Hygiene

The School Headteacher, Mr. Danson, urged parents to prioritize love and hygiene for their children. He explained that maintaining proper hygiene and a supportive home environment helps learners stay healthy, remain school-ready, and ultimately perform better academically.

Mr. Danson further appealed to parents to remain consistent in supporting the school.

Parents Share Testimony of Change

Nyangire Charles Nyangire (LC 1, Nyeihanga cell) and Nisiima Ester (parent) said the establishment of Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School has brought long-awaited relief to families in the area.

They noted that before the school was set up, children faced serious challenges, including trekking long distances, exposure to harassment by strangers, and the constant danger of road accidents.

With the newly donated items and renewed encouragement from education and religious leaders, parents say they are hopeful for improved learning conditions and better prospects for their children.
