NEWS- Parents have been asked to strive hard and ensure that their children get educated in schools they can afford without restraining themselves.
The call was made on Thursday February 8th 2024 by by Hopeful Kanungu District Woman Aspirant Ms Esther Majyambere Kanyaruharo while speaking as a Chief Guest at the Award ceremony of giving 531 mattresses to the Primary Seven Leavers who got 1st Grade in 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations.
Ms Majyambere hailed the stakeholders in the Education Sector in Kanungu District who included the Education Officers, the Head teachers, teachers and Parents who worked hard to ensure that the candidates passed well especially those in Grade one.
She said that she would support the pupils by giving each of them a mattress and also give the best 3 students who scored 2nd Grade in the the Sub counties which did not get the First Grade.
Ms Majyambere also advised the parents to encourage their children to study vocational skills since they have become part of important job allocation in the country.
While speaking at the same event, the Secretary for Gender in Kanungu District Ms Mbabazi Rukia thanked Ms Majyambere for coming out to support the Education sector and said that it shows her value to education.
Kanungu District NRM Chairman Godfrey Karabenda who attended the function said that Ms Majyambere has shown her capacity to help in the development of Kanungu District by supporting the Education Sector and if she comes as a politician she will be supported.
The function was attended by the Chairman for Works at Kanungu District Rogers Tumwesigye who is also the Councilor for Kihihi Town Council, several other District Councilors, Parents and the pupils who picked the mattresses.
The mattresses were distributed to the beneficiaries from their neighborhood to avoid further transport costs.
Councilor Rogers Timwesigye urged the beneficiaries not to sell the mattresses but use them in remembrance of the donor Hon Esther Majyambere.
