Kanungu District Education Officer Shaban Adam has urged parents to focus much on their child education despite the challenges of resource mobilisation because the children is their future and an educated generation promotes a better nation.

Shaban Adam made the remarks December 10th while speaking as a Chief Guest at the Kinkiizi High School PTA Annual General Meeting at the school premises in Rumba Cell, Nyakatare in Kanungu District.

The District Education Officer thanked the parents of Kinkizi High School for being pillars of development at the school and urged them to ensure that their children complete the education study cycle in order to be successful in their lives.

While speaking at the same event, the headteacher Rev Emmanuel Mutabazi  thanked the school foundation body for cooperation and support which has contributed to the growth and development of the school with a current enrollment of 94 teaching staff members, 1,231 students of which 616 arevboys and 615 are girls.

Rev Mutabazi said that Kinkiizi Highschool is a day and boarding mixed school that has achieved a lot in the year 2025 through giving students a conducive learning environment, practicing co-circular activities and fruitful cordination with their partners especially Centenary Bank Kihiihi Branch which has dedicated a Crest water tank worth Ugx 2.3 million.

The Headteacher noted that Kinkiizi High School whose Motto is, ‘We Aim Higher’ will remain committed to the values to the core values of the founders and the values will continously define what the school is and what it works for based on God fearing, professionalism, innovation, integrity, transparency, teamwork, committed hardwork, discipline and humility.

Kinkiizi High School continue to register academic excellence as exhibited in the 2024 performance where the school was ranked the 406 out of 4,168 schools at O’Level and ranked 104th out of 2,255 schools at A’Level where the best student Akandinda Elinah set a record and scored 20 points, which is the highest possible score.

During the year, the school administration, due to increased number of students, has constructed a new boys dormitory worth Ugx 230 million, complete with 8 attached bathroom fitted with showers and a similar facility at the Girl’s Phaobe Dormitory.

According to Rev Mutabazi, tge school has developed a 10 Year strategic plan that provides the future infrastructural development and academic growth, improved staff welfare and good governance aimed at providing a roadmap that guide all activities and ensuring the schools growth in a planned, measurable and successful manner.

The 10 Year strategic Plan is an important document because it provides direction and focus, helps proper resource allocation, strengthens decision making, improves accountability and transparency, enhances infrastructural and academic growth, manage numerical enrolment, strengthen partnerships and funding proposals and ensure continuity, sustainability and stability.

Rev Mutabazi thanked the Board of Governors led by Ms Mpirirwe Allen Joy Kakama who has tirelessly provided strategic guidance and direction through resolutions that are a strong foundation upon which the school administration takes decision and also thanked Kanungu District Local Government which serves as an official channel of all government proceeds reach such as the capitation grant and staff salaries.

He also thanked the Foundation Body, Diocese of Kinkizi for appointing competent, visionary and dedicated men and women to serve on the Board of Governors and their combined effort has kept the school in the right direction.

The Parent Body under the PTA chairperson Moses Twesigye Katebire thanked the headteacher for making the school a trusted one with a  steadyfast teaching staff, and a prayerful student environment. 

Twesigye thanked fellow parents for sustaining the school development activities by paying school dues which has enabled the school administration to put in place a conducive learning environment and asked them to continue supervising them and nurturing them to become better members of the community they live in.

The event was also addressed by the Diocese of Kinkizi Education Coordinator Rev Canon Stella Arinaitwe who thanked the Kinkizi High School Administration for the infrastructural developments which has attracted big number of students to the school in the last few years.

Nonetheless, the school faces inadequate accommodation for teachers, lacks a dinning hall, insufficient number of toilets and persistent water shortages all which need urgent attention.
