KASESE- The leadership of Mahango Health Centre III in Lhuhiri Parish, Mahango Sub-county in Kasese district has resorted to using a vehicle belonging to the Kakone Parish Priest as an ambulance to refer patients to improved health facilities.
Located in the mountainous area, the facility was previously using an ambulance that was provided by the Bukonzo County East Member of Parliament, Harold Tony Muhindo but when it got some mechanical challenges, the leadership opted to requesting the Kakone Parish Priest to help then with his vehicle.
The development was revealed yesterday by a section of health workers at the facility while giving a report to the Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament, Florence Kabugho who had visited the facility to access its readiness towards offering health services to the community members.
Mr. Henry Biryande, the Assistant in-charge at the facility like the rest of the workers told the legislator that due to lack of an ambulance, the number of expectant mothers who throng the facility to seek services has drastically reduced.
In her remarks, Hon. Kabugho commended the health workers for the good work done at the facility and urged the community members to desist from the act of self-medication, encouraging them to utilize the services of professional medics.
She donated some items including basins and soap to the patients on admission. The beneficiaries described the donation as timely.
