KAMPALA- The Body of the Minister of state for Defence and veteran Affairs also Kisoro District Woman MP Sarah Mateke will Lay at Parliaments’ South Wing Parking lot for special prayers starting at 2pm.
According to the tweet by the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, the House will hold special prayers for the late State Minister of Defence Sarah Mateke tomorrow, instead of at her home in Nsanji, Wakiso District, as previously communicated.
The announcements reflects a sudden change in the program to avoid inconveniencing neighbors, as the space at Mateke’s home is insufficient to accommodate all the visitors.
Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu of the Church of Uganda will lead the prayers for the Late.
After the funeral service, the body will be taken to her residence in Nsangi.
On Tuesday, President Museveni will join the MPs and the public to pay his respect to Late Sarah Mateke as her body will be laying in state at Parliaments’ foyer/Lobby in the morning.
In the afternoon, the body will be moved to Parliaments’ chambers where MPs hold a special sitting to pay tribute to the late Sarah Mateke.
It should be noted that the state minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs, Sarah Mateke, passed away at 50.
The Kisoro Woman MP, suffered a heart attack and was rushed to Mengo hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. She was appointed to the ministerial position in April of this year.
