The Parliamentary Alumni of Uganda (PAU) convened their 4th Annual General Meeting today June 14th 2025, at the Parliamentary Conference Hall, in a well-attended session marked by unity, reflection.and renewed commitment to service. 

The Parliamentary Alumni of Uganda Chairperson Hon Jacqueline Kyatuheire warmly welcomed members and expressed deep appreciation to all alumni for consistently honouring the association’s call. 

She emphasized the importance of such gatherings in maintaining bonds of fellowship among former legislators and promoting continued engagement with national development matters.

“I sincerely thank each of you for always creating time to attend our meetings despite your individual busy schedules. Your presence here is a testament to the spirit of patriotism and the value you still attach to public service,” Hon Kyatuheire said.

The event was graced by the Minister of Investment and Privatisation, Hon Evelyn Anite, who represented the Guest of Honour, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and in her keynote address, Hon Anite applauded Parliamentary Alumni of Uganda for its consistency in staying connected and supporting one another, noting that the former Members of Parliament have continued to embody the principle of “being your neighbour’s keeper.”

“This level of solidarity is rare and admirable. It is encouraging to see that despite having left active service in Parliament, you still look out for one another and remain actively engaged in the country’s development discourse,” Hon Anite said.

Hon Anite assured Parliamentary Alumni of Uganda members that she would present all the matters raised during the meeting to the President which included requests for an official Parliamentary Alumni of Uganda office space, a functional health benefits scheme for former MPs, and a structured support fund for bereavement and welfare emergencies.

The meeting concluded with a shared sense of pride and optimism among members, with many pledging continued support to Parliamentary Alumni of Uganda and its leadership and the session ended with a networking luncheon and informal discussions on how best to leverage their collective experience for national progress.
