Taxi burning to ashes in Jinja City

NEWS– Atleast four passengers are feared to have died on spot as 14 others sustained injuries when a mysterious fire gutted a taxi registration number UBA 463B with 18 passengers on board.

According to an eyewitnesses who preferred anonymity, the taxi caught fire along Clive road west (Kampala stage).

They recounted that the taxi was seemingly in perfect condition but to their surprise and shock, it caught fire as it started its journey to Kampala.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening at around 5:00pm, on July 14, 2024.

By press time, the Jinja fire brigade had arrived and rescue of the survivors was on-going.

The Police was yet to issue a statement as officers were busy trying by all means to put off the fire that had nearly finished the taxi off.
