NEWS- Kasambya Football Club was crowned champions of Nyasa got talent tournament 2024 after defeating Nyasa Football Club in a thrilling match that took place on Sunday at Mugogo play ground in Bukinda Muhanga town council in Rukiga district.
The tournament was organized to attract all six sub counties in Rukiga district but Rwamucucu Sub County never showed up due to unknown reasons, thus the tournament was played by the remaining five sub counties. Kashambya sub county won the competitions in penalty shoot outs scoring 3:2 against Nyasa fc from Muhanga town council.
Each team that participated went home with medals, footballs, along with other goodies such as full kit jerseys and money and the Champions were given a trophy among other prizes.
While speaking as the guest of honor at the tournament, MS Gloria Kamusiime the Patriotic League of Uganda Kigezi sub region youths representative emphasized the significance of sports engagement in fostering economic prosperity and talent development within communities hence thanking the organizers for this initiative.
Kamusiime added that PLU led by Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba wants the youths to understand that they can earn a living from sports, the reason he is embracing its development to identify the hidden talents which can be uplifted to the International scene.
She added that organizing such a sports event is one way of mobilizing the youths in a bid to create a platform to educate them about mindset change as they look forward to creating youths groups that will be empowered in different not limited to skilling in vocational studies to eradicate poverty and redundancy.

Rtd Capt Damson Christman Kivumba, who is eyeing the Rukiga county Parliamentary seat commended the tournament organisers, emphasizing their focus on talent identification and nurturing with the agenda of talent development and youth empowerment.
Kivumba appealed to the people of the entire Rukiga district to support PLU with its good agenda of bringing both youths and adults on one table for the development of this country.
Hon Basil Bataringaya Rwankwene, the Member of Parliament for Kashari North in Mbarara district pointed out that football is a unifying force and a deterrent against negative peer influence.
Bataringaya told people of Rukiga that PLU’s main agenda is to usher in a peaceful transition of power so that Ugandans can continue enjoying the stability that was ushered in by the NRM government 38 years ago.
He added that this peace and stability is for people to continue doing their work and development without any hindrances stressing that Kigezi region is blessed since they secured the sub region youths coordinator to support them in developing talents as it’s the party’s boss Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s main position.

The legislator asked youths to always engage in sports after working hours rather than wasting time in luxurious things which end up spoiling them like alcoholism, theft and other evil acts.

Julius Kamwesiga, Chairperson Nyasa FC and Aharizira Rodgers, Manager Nyasa FC said their football club started way back in 1999, registered with FUFA and has taken a step in terms of identifying and developing different sports talents.
The duo thanked PLU team led by Gloria Kamusime for the boost they have rendered to this tournament that saw it boom and success.
They emphasized that when individuals from different communities or cultures participate in sports, they create opportunities for interaction, communication, and connection hence asking more people to subscribe to become members as one way of making it strong again.

The tournament was also supported by Dr. Sylvia Arinaitwe, the Deputy Managing Director, Finance and Corporate Strategy at National Water and Sewerage Corporation the aspiring Rukiga district woman member of parliament .
