Wreckage of Pokopoko bus involved in accident

NEWS– At least twelve people have been rushed to the hospital on critical conditions after Poko -Poko Bus UAQ226W hit a trailer in Kyenjojo district.

It is reported that the incident happened on Tuesday afternoon while the bus was enroute to Kampala from Kasese. The bus set off from Bwera at 8am, had a stopover in Kasese town and set for Kampala at around 9am.

Willy Baluku, one of the managers of Pokopoko bus company in Kasese confirmed to our reporter on phone, confirming that the accident of their bus.

Baluku explained that, he was notified him of the incident that the bus hit a trailer that had broken down along the way.

However, by press time, Baluku had not yet established the exact number of the passengers who were on board.

Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Regional Police Spokesperson, says that the accident happened when the bus registration number UAQ 226W, which was heading to Kampala, failed to break and rammed into a parked trailer registration number CGO 7881AF/CGO2464AG19.

Police identified the injured as Pharidah Itungo, 27, Jesca Masaka 29, Muhammed Bwambale 29, Denis Vangide 29, Bashir Musisi 49, Enid Biira 40, and Florence Masika, aged 42.

Others include Tasvile Katungo, 52; Private Mision Ntalibara, 55; Vincent Musabe, 30, Nelson Masereka, 42; and John Okado, aged 36. Twesige said that these were rushed to Kyenjojo General Hospital for medical attention.
