NEWS– The Police in Rukungiri District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 38-year-old man identified as Denis Muhwezi which allegedly occurred in the night of 18th May 2025 at Omukatojo village in Rubanga Parish in Buyanja Sub- County.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the incident and said that on the fateful day, the deceased left his home going to Nyabushenyi village in Nyarushanje Sub-county for burial together with other family members.
It’s reported that on the same day during the evening hours, the he was seen at Minera Hot Springs by his young brother Tumuramye John who eventually left himTumuramye left him there.
Maate explained that it was yesterday morning when one Arinaitwe Ambrose, a resident of Omukatojo Village, while taking children to school found the lifeless body of the deceased lying in a pool of blood along Rubanga – Minera road and alerted relatives of the deceased who reported the matter to Rukungiri Central Police Station.
Maate said that the scene of the of crime was visited, processed and documented and statements were recorded from witnesses, and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center III Mortuary for postmortem and one suspect identified as Turyatunga Victor was arrested to assist in investigations.
