NEWS- The Family involved in Land wrangles with the Locals in areas of Kamwezi Sub County in Rukiga District have been told to respect the Local leaders including the Chairperson LC I and others.
The directive was made by the Commandant ACP Alalu Johnson who was leading a team of officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters that descended down to Nyabubare cell, Rwenyangyi Parish to investigate ongoing Land wrangles between Kibahigire’s family and the Locals.
ACP Alalu Johnson said that for Kibahigire’s family to deploy any laborer at the site, they are supposed to be with proper identification letters from their areas of residences, with their National IDs and should be introduced by the Village Chairperson.
The Police boss further directed that whoever is at the site and is not known by the area authorities be arrested with immediate effect or be vetted to make sure that they are true and proper people to work in the area.
Alalu’s directive follows the Locals complaints that Mary Kibahigire has deployed Suspected Allied Democratic Forces ADF people from DRC to man the land she’s suspected to have grabbed from the Locals.
Residents confided to the officials that Kibahigire brought people from unknown destinations armed with Spears, arrows, Pangas, moving along with dogs and had started staging roadblocks on the Public Road that connects areas of Muhanga and Kamwezi on top of holding illegal parades in the area.
They also requested Ms Kibahigire to deploy the known Security group giving an example of Ugandan Police and the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) to man the field with ease.
The meeting was also attended by the officials from the Anti-Corruption under State House led by Reenie Ndyomugyenyi, the Deputy Regional Police Commander (RPC) Kawalya James, the Rukiga district security team including the RDC and his Deputy, the DPC among others.
During the meeting, the government Surveyor was also introduced to the Public, who is slated to take a role of Mapping and Identifying Peoples Land and of the aggrieving Family.
