The Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 57 years old man identified as Mwerinde Broad a resident of Murambo village in Buranga Parish in Kamuganguzi Sub-county whose body was found lying on a bed in one of the rooms of his house.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that it is alleged that on the night of 30th June 2025 the late Mwerinde was attacked while at his home by unknown people who assaulted him to death.
Maate said that the deceased body was found lying on a bed in one of the rooms of the house by one Birungi Patrick Paddy who had gone to check on him early in the morning of yesterday who then passed on the information to the deceased’s relatives and later Chairperson LC I of the same area Jackline Mbangirwoha reported the matter to Kamuganguzi Police Station and subsequently Kabale Central Police Station for investigations.
Maate explained that a team from Kabale Central Police Station responded to the crime scene, processed and documented and the body of was conveyed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination and two people have been arrested to assist in investigations but whose particulars could not be revealed not to jeopardize investigations.
Meanwhile, the Police in Masindi District have recovered a dead body of a well-known trader in Hoima, identified as David Mucunguzi inside his Toyota Premio vehicle in Buliima Town Counci.
Mucunguzi, a resident of Kihemba village in Butema Parish, Buhanika Sub-county, operated a retail shop in the Hoima taxi park, but he went missing on Monday, June 30th after reporting for work and failing to return home in the evening.
This worried his relatives who reported the matter to Hoima Central police station, prompting immediate investigations and according to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, Julius Hakiza, Mucunguzi’s body was discovered yesterday inside his car.
After the recovery, the body and transported it to Hoima City Mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
