NEWS- The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 30 years old man identified as Abraham Mugarura a resident of Karonde village in Nyakinoni Sub county.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that the LC II Chairperson yesterday April 3rd 2025 even8ng received a call from Byaruhanga Gad the area Chairperson Karonde village, that Mugarura Abraham was found lying dead in the farm of Kururagire.
The Chairman LC II then reported the matter at Katete Police Post for further investigations and it was established that the deceased was drinking from the bar of Kemigisha Rhoda and it’s suspected that he could have been poisoned.
Maate explained that the scene of crime was visited, processed and documented by the team of Police Officers from Kihihi Police Station including a canine unit, although the scene had been tempered with.
The Police retrieved the body and conveyed to Kihihi Health Center IV for postmortem examination and was later handed over to the relatives for a decent burial and it was found that the body had external marks of injury and bruises on the left arm’s triceps.
Maate has now said that Investigation into this matter is still ongoing to ascertain the actual cause of death and no arrests have been made.
