NEWS- The police in Rukiga district have arrested a 28 year old man for allegedly defiling a 4 year old girl.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson has identified the detained suspect as Havad Tumwesigyire aka Nguru, a resident of Nyakatojo II cell, Nyakashebeya parish, Kashambya sub county in Rukiga district.
It’s alleged that on 20th August 2024 at around 7:30pm, the mother of the victim gave a mobile phone to her to use it as a touch to go to the latrine then she went and delayed in there for about 10 minutes and on coming back, the victim told the mother that Nguru the neighbor had urinated on her legs.
When the mother checked on her legs, she found suspected semens around her private part and her skirt was wet.
The mother of the victim immediately went and reported to police and the case file was opened.
Maate noted that the scene was visited by a team of police officers, statements recorded from witnesses and the suspect was accordingly arrested to help in investigations.
He also revealed that inquiries are ongoing and upon completion, the suspect will be arraigned before courts of law to answer charges accordingly.
The case of aggravated defilement was recorded at Rukiga police station under file number CRB 316/2024.
