NEWS- The Police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a two years old boy identified as Akampereza son to Gerard Akampereza a resident of Kyomuringa village in Nyarutojo Parish in Kambuga Sub county.
It’s alleged that the deceased who was born with health complications continued to fall sick in this month of March and he was taken to Kambuga hospital by the step mother Ahurira Prossy who was informed that the sick child needed to be operated on.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists that when the residents could no longer see the child at their home, the area LC I chairman Emmanuel Mugisha, intervened and interrogated the father who revealed that his son died and he buried him by himself, something that is not commonly done.
Police were informed and parents, the father and the step mother were arrested, and a scene of crime was visited and documented where fresh soil was discovered behind the toilet which is suspected to be the grave.
Maate explained that an exhumation and postmortem awaits a court order that will sit tomorrow and the case of suspected murder was registered at Kambuga Police Station under reference number SD 04/16/03/2024 to help in investigations.
Meanwhile the Police in Ibanda District are investigating a case of murder of a 73 year old man identified as Kabagambe Deus Dedita a resident of Kaaburo II Village in Rugaaga Parish in Keihangaara Sub County.
The Rwizi Regional Police Spokesman Samson Kasasira told journalists that the deceased was on March 16th 2024 hacked to death by unknown assailants and his body found lying dead along a village footpath distance away from his home.
According to preliminary investigations the body of the deceased was found with a deep wound on his head and might have been hacked with a blunt object.
Kasasira said that the murder case was registered and the crime scene visited by Police and documented and the body of the deceased was conveyed to Ruhoko Health Center IV for postmortem examination as inquiries are ongoing to have the suspects apprehended.
