BUSHENYI – People have been challenged to remain security conscious if they want stability during this festive season.
The message was sounded by the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson SSP Martial Tumusiime while delivering his festive season message to this publication on Friday 22nd December 2023.
The spokesperson’s words come at a time when Ugandans are living in worry due to the ongoing Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) threats in the country.
Last week, ADF assailants attacked Kyabandara Parish in Kamwenge district and killed at least 10 people, looted shops before fleeing with abductees towards Kibale National Park.
On Wednesday, the Deputy Inspector of Police Major General Geoffrey Tumusiime Kasigazi visited the area and disclosed to press that the rebels exploited porous borders along the DRC – Uganda borderline to infiltrate the country and cause chaos.
Tumusiime urged communities to heighten vigilance in public spaces and collaborate with the police and other security agencies by sharing information to enhance security measures.
Now the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson says any suspicious character should be reported to village leaders and if not properly identified, the police in the locality should be informed accordingly.
“At places of worship, security should be observed because these people tend to concentrate where people are gathering. Again as people leave their homes on Christmas day to worship centers, let them leave a person at home to take care of security for household items and security”, SSP Martial Tumusiime observed.
The spokesperson says security is not only for police but for every individual.
