NEWS– The renowned and lead pastor of House of Prayer Ministries, Aloysius Bugingo was on Tuesday rushed to Mulago Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) after reportedly being shot on his way home according to the Rubaga Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Anderson Burora.
“An attempt on Pastor Bugingo’s life this evening was thwarted after unknown gunmen targeted his car following Nansana. Reliable sources confirm he is now out of danger,” RCC Burora wrote on X at EAT 11.26 pm.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that Bugingo’s driver may have succumbed to the gunshot wounds. Bugingo, a prominent and controversial pastor, openly expresses his disdain for the opposition while supporting the ruling government, particularly endorsing first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s presidential ambitions.
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, who was admitted to Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala after being targeted and shot by unidentified assailants, is now reported to be out of danger.
Officials who visited Bugingo on Tuesday night conveyed that he is “responding well to treatment” and underscored that he has successfully overcome the critical phase.
The Director of House of Prayer Ministries International was attacked by militants near Total Petrol Station in Namungoona, Wakiso district. Despite being in critical condition upon arrival at Mulago, medical efforts have stabilized him.
Law enforcement authorities have initiated the search for those responsible for the attack.
This incident adds to a series of armed assaults on high-profile government officials and Muslim clerics across various regions of the country.
