President Museveni arrives in Kenya

NAIROBI– President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has said that he will support the candidature of Kenyan strongman Raila Odinga for the chairmanship of the African Union because he is a convinced pan-Africanist unlike his competitors in the race.

President Museveni made the statement today while attending the launch of Odinga’s candidature at State House Nairobi in Kenya saying that the Chairmanship of African Union is a job of vision, conviction and knowledge.

According to President Museveni, Raila Odinga is the most suitable candidate for the job because he has consistently exhibited passion for Africa and African affairs and said that other people are in the race for different agendas, like career building while Raila Odinga is already the candidate Africa needs to lead the battle for prosperity.

He said that while he disagrees with certain elements in Odinga’s group like the legislator Babu Owino, he can attest to Raila’s nationalist values and his love for uniting Africa, hence he has credentials to become African Union chairmanship.

The launch which took place at State House Nairobi was hosted by Kenyan President William Somoei Arap Ruto, Tanzania President Samia Hassan Suluhu and South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit among many others.
