NEWS– President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday concluded his tour assessing the implementation of Parish Development Model in the Tooro Sub-region with a rally in Kitagwenda District Headquarters where he thanked residents for their commitment to peace and the rejection of rebellion.
The President who was accompanied by several Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament from Tooro Sub Region noted that it is through collective efforts that Ugandans have managed to maintain stability in the communities.
President Museveni made it categorically clear that the NRM has prioritized politics of interest, empowering all our people regardless of religion or tribe.
He emphasized the crucial role of homestead income in uplifting families, through the Parish Development Model and explained that while infrastructure like roads and electricity is vital, financial stability in homesteads must start at the household level.
The President went to explain that Parish Development Model which has been rolled out across the country is a key solution to getting Ugandans out of poverty, by providing Ugx 100 million annually to each parish in every district.
The President reaffirmed the government commitment to free education through Universal Primary and Secondary Education and said that he will soon announce plans for more teacher recruitment and classroom construction.
Earlier, the President addressed the leaders of the Tooro Sub-region this at Kyegegwa District Headquarters where his message to them was to shift their focus from secondary issues and prioritise wealth creation at the household level as the most effective way to eradicate poverty across Uganda.
The President asked all leaders sensitise their communities by emphasising wealth creation because the government want to ensure that Parish Development Model funds reach every home.
He reminded Ugands that the NRM government has worked hard to ensure that there is peace all over the country and therefore its essential to start advocating for increased household incomes.

While in Tooro Sub-region, President Museveni has commissioned the Tooro Zonal presidential Industrial Skilling hub and advised graduates from Presidential industrial Skilling hubs to focus their energies on production of basic essential products with daily demand from the populace.
President Museveni noted that vocational training for youths are a catalyst for technology enhancement among the population and a practical means for them to earn a living and noted that there is no need to import items in categories of furniture, textiles and fabrics since training locally in vocational institutions in the country can provide skills to produce them.
President Museveni confirmed that the government will provide funds to scale up of admissions and course units and assured graduates on funding for their enterprises through district SACCOs established to fund their initiatives.
He made it categorically clear that Presidential industrial Skilling Hubs distributed across the country have proved the viability of free education concept and warned errant public schools administrators and local government leaders who insist on imposing school fees charges on students to stop it with immediate effect and said that the government is strategically moving towards full integration of vocational training in schools at all levels of education.
While in Kyenjojo District, the President tasked the Chief Administrative Officer to explain the completion rate of pupils at Primary Seven level and after getting an unsatisfactory response, the President ordered for a probe into the same
The President then sought the public’s opinion on free Universal education from primary to tertiary which they supported unanimous and warned saboteurs of the free education Initiative and rallied the people in Tooro Sub-region to uphold the core pillars for National development and avoid destructive ideologies
President Museveni noted that Uganda’s current steady progress is attributed to the clear pillars for national development based on unity as opposed to politics of identity and sectarianism, peace and national security, prioritization of government programs to foster prosperity for all
He therefore urged leaders in Tooro Sub-region to understand the NRM ideology and benchmark on it if they are to be impactful to their people and highlighted the Importance of harmonization in crafting government programs and explained how previous regimes failed
He also assured leaders from Tooro sub region government efforts to restore dilapidated sections of Mityana – Fort portal road and questioned the Ministry of Works roads maintenance plans so that the residents can understand what is being done.
The President emphasized the distinction between wealth and development and urged leaders to prioritize wealth creation at household level as government Centers on general development aspects.
The Kabarole District Chairperson Charles Rwabuhinga read the joint leaders communiqué to the President that featured a range of issues and this led the passing of a joint resolution by leaders in Tooro Sub-region endorsing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the sole presidential candidate and NRM flag bearer in the coming 2026 General Elections
