President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed the Minister of Gender Labour and Social media Hon Gen Henry Tumukunde to help resolve the ongoing disputes within the Tooro Kingdom before September 12th.
Minister Tumukunde made the revelation today while visiting Karuziika Palace to mourn the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who died in the United States on August 27th 2026, at the age of 34 after battling cancer.
The King’s death has triggered a succession dispute, with Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister reportedly claiming that the late monarch left behind a biological heir.
However, Babiito royal clan head Omusuga Charles Kamurasi has disputed the claim, saying the clan has no knowledge of any biological son of the late King.
A 21-member Babiito clan committee is currently handling the process of identifying and selecting the next king in accordance with Tooro traditions.
With the King’s burial scheduled for September 12th, the government intervention is aimed at resolving the disagreements and maintaining stability within the kingdom during the mourning period.
