NAIROBI- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Thursday joined Kenyan President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga at the Piny Luo Cultural Festival at the Got Ramogi shrine in Siaya County.
The annual festival celebrates Luo heritage, attracting leaders and participants from across the region and President Museveni, whp was the event’s chief guest, was welcomed earlier at the Kenya-Uganda border in Busia by Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.
President Yoweri Museveni presence underscores the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between Kenya and Uganda and the festival, which has been ongoing in Migwena has today culminated into various activities, including a much-anticipated friendly football match by Kenya’s Premier League champions Gor Mahia FC against Uganda’s Kitara FC, which added an exciting sporting element to the cultural showcase.
The Piny Luo Festival serves as a platform to celebrate and preserve the rich traditions and history of the Luo community and it brings together dignitaries, community leaders and citizens to honour their shared culture while fostering unity and collaboration.
