Museveni launching the Optic Fibre Internet in Mototo Municipality

NEWS- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today launched Phase 5 of Optic Fibre Internet in Karamoja sub-region which is aimed at making the area get connected to modern day communication.

The event which was witnessed by the Minister of ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi was held at Moroto Municipality Ceremonial grounds where he noted that the launch has brought warmth to the far flung Moroto district and the entire Karamoja region after unveiling government plans and good will for Karamoja.

The first 4 Phases National Backbone Infrastructure were small and that the five phase shall be large covering the remaining 73 districts of Uganda and 130 masts shall be covered and held connect to PDM information systems.

The National Information Technology Authority-Uganda has been instructed to help make this possible, so that the government can later mount security cameras to stop animal theft in Karamoja.

The President was told that the Parish Development Model information system hosted by the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda was developed by Kyambogo University and therefore a manifestation of increasing efficiency of the Ugandan education sector.
