President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today received Letters of credence from four Heads of Mission who include Ambassador Ababu Namwamba, the High Commissioner of Kenya, Ambassador Sangho Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea.
Others were Maj Gen Marco Elisha Gaguti the High Commissioner of Tanzania and Ambassador Gabriel Pandureni Sinimbo, the High Commissioner of Namibia.
President Museveni said that Uganda enjoys cordial and mutually beneficial relations with all these countries.
The President welcomed them and assured them that he is looking forward to working together to further strengthen our cooperation for the benefit of the population.
Meanwhile President Museveni has welcomed the establishment of the HUVET Bio-Science Park that will produce animal vacvines in Uganda led by Eng Hashem Azimi.
The initiative will play an important role in advancing Uganda’s journey towards local vaccine production, veterinary biotechnology and scientific innovation, while reducing our dependence on imported vaccines and other biological products.
During the meeting President Museveni made it categorically clear that Uganda must build the capacity to produce what is needed and vaccine sovereignty is the Country’s ambition to become a regional leader in biotechnology.
He noted that it is important for Uganda strategic interests and welcomed the investment and assured the investors that the Government of Uganda will support the initiative.
He described the initiative as a visionary step towards self-reliance in healthcare and biotechnology, saying that Uganda’s future is brighter with investments in local vaccine production.
