President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Rwenzori Sub-region

NEWS– President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today resumes his nationwide tour to assess the implementation of Parish Development Model focusing on the Rwenzori and Tooro Sub-regions.

According to a statement from the President Press Secretary Sondor Walusimbi, President Museveni started today morning with visits to Bundibugyo, Ntoroko and Kasese districts, where he engaged with Parish Development Model beneficiaries and assessed how the initiative is improving rural livelihoods and remains Uganda’s anti-poverty flagship initiative.

The Presidential Senior Press Secretary, confirmed that the President will spend three days in the Rwenzori subregion assessing the Parish Development Model implementation, visiting some of the selected beneficiaries, as well as launching the Presidential Zonal skilling hub.

The visit to the Rwenzori subregion forms part of the President’s nationwide Parish Development Model assessment campaign, which has so far covered sub-regions including Acholi, Lango, Busoga, Bukedi Bugisu, Kigezi, Ankole and Teso regions.

During the visits, the President has consistently emphasized that Parish Development Model is a transformative vehicle designed to shift Ugandan households from subsistence to the money economy through direct parish-level financing.

President Museveni has on several occasions showcased success stories of beneficiaries who have utilized Parish Development Model funds to boost agricultural production, launch small-scale businesses, and access financial services.

In Greater Luweero, beneficiaries reported increases in maize and poultry production, while women’s groups in Teso established cassava processing initiatives using Parish Development Model support and while in Rwenzori, the President is expected to meet local leaders, farmer cooperatives and youth groups to further understand progress and address bottlenecks affecting full rollout of the program.
