Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja

New York– The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah has scooped the Global Women Leadership Award in New York.

The Global Women Leadership Award is an annual award conferred by the Centre of Economic and Leadership Development based in the United Kingdom.

The award was handed over to Nabbanja during the Global Power Women Conference 2024 that was convened at the Graduate Centre University of New York City in New York.

While receiving the global award Nabbanja says that Uganda has made substantial strides towards gender equality through progressive laws and policies.

Nabbanja dedicated it to President Yoweri Museveni, the cabinet of Uganda and the people of Kakumiro district.

During her key note address to world women leaders Nabbanja says that women need further empowerment to transform the world especially in the financial sector.

Nabbanja challenged women leaders to help fellow women instead of pulling them down in uncalled for intrigues and difference.

Nabbanja appealed to world leaders to remove all discriminatory legal frameworks in the journey to empower women.

The event ran under the theme “Advancing the Transformative Power of Technology through Women’s Lens: Shaping the Future of Business and Governance.”

The Award recognizes and celebrates notable women leaders who have demonstrated exceptional leadership on a global scale, inspiring countless individuals and driving significant change across regions and sectors. 

It is a badge of honor presented on a world stage to visionary leaders who strategically navigate complex challenges and leverage opportunities to create a better world. 

The other awardees included H.E. Mrs. Rossana Maria Briceño, First Lady of Belize, H.E. Leticia Ocampos, First Lady of Paraguay, H.E. Arya Ali, First Lady of Guyana, H.E. Madam Isaura Gonçalo Ferrão Nyusi, First Lady of the Republic of Mozambique Dr. Filomena Gonçalves, Honourable Minister of Health, Republic of Cape Verde and Olive Birungi Lumonya, Deputy Director General, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.
