NTUNGAMO- The Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner Cadre Mucunguzi has commissioned the construction works to upgrade the Kanuuma Road in Ntungamo-Municipality.
The 2km road starts off Ntungamo- Mirama Hills Road at Kyamate and ends at Kaharata Road which cost UGX 1.9Bn from road fund maintenance grant.
While commissioning works on Wednesday at Kyamate, RDC Mucunguzi threatened to arrest the errant technical and engineers who dared to siphon fuel and mismanaged the resources granted from the government.
He noted that the road will facilitate trade, urging the town dwellers to use it as they try to pull themselves out of poverty.
Cadre Mucunguzi told the people that there will be no compensation asking them to be cooperative as they monitor and supervise to eliminate shoddy work.
The mayor Ntungamo Municipality Jacob Kafureeka hailed the central government for considering Municipalities and districts to get road maintenance grants.
Kafureeka also promised to work on other divisions in the next subsequent years as the grant keeps coming.
Isaiah Tumwesigye pledged to use the granted fund wisely such that the people of Ntungamo municipality can benefit from it.
The municipal Engineer Ankunzire Frank noted that the 2km road will be completed in just months and thanked the ministry of works for providing technical teams and graders to be used in order to speed up the construction.
Present were Deputy Mayor Kyomukama Loy Tumwesigye, Namanya Joshua Kansiime the president municipal development Forum, LCIII Eastern Division chairperson Provia Barugahare and technical staff among others.
