KABALE- Bishop Emeritus James Tumwijukye of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Kabale Church Central has expressed concern over the government’s continued disregard for the church’s role in nation-building.

Tumwijukye made the remarks yesterday during the 5-day PAG Missions Arise Revival Conference held at the church premises in Kigonji, Central Division, Kabale Municipality.

In his sermon, Bishop Emeritus Tumwijukye revealed that he had previously told the State Minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati, that if the government of Uganda fails to recognize the church’s contributions, it will be answerable to God.

He emphasized the significant role the church plays in healing the sick, thereby reducing the government’s medical expenses.

The man of God criticized government officials for using taxpayer money to seek medical treatment abroad while many have been healed through the power of prayer, lamenting that the government is unaware of the church’s potential to support its efforts.

Although acknowledging the presence of some impostors in the church, Tumwijukye clarified that not all churches have such individuals.

Kabale District Woman MP, Hon. Atwakiire Catherine Ndamira, praised the NRM government led by H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for promoting freedom of worship, unlike in some countries like Rwanda where such freedom is limited.

She took the opportunity to support the ongoing 5-day PAG Mission Arise Revival Conference with a cash donation of UGX 1 million.
