KANUNGU- The Rotaract District 9214 has recognized the Rotaract Club of Uganda Nursing School Bwindi in Kanungu District and given them a Community Impact Institutional Based Award for initiating a project that addresses 3 Areas of Focus.
The three Areas of focus were drawn from Basic Education and Literacy, Community Economics and Development, Disease prevention and Treatment and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene .
The District 9214 Rotaract Representative 2024/2025 Joseph Sengooba the District Performance Awards are given based on the initiatives that focuses on the impact that addresses the needs of the community.
The Uganda Nursing School Bwindi Rotaract President Micheal Namara said that the Club identified the Rutendere House Construction Project after they discovered 4 orphans with their mother living in a rented dilapidated house and decided to build them a house.
It’s reported that after the death of the Head of the family, the woman started living in a house they rented at Ugx 10,000 belonging to one of the relatives since the man left no house.
It was from this background that Uganda Nursing School Bwindi Rotaract Club mobilised funds and focused on the house Construction project aimed at giving the family a new lease of life.
It was also agreed that all the 4 orphans are taken back to school at Rutendere Twimukye Nursery and Primary School where the Rotactors agreed to keep supporting the education of the education orphans in order to fight illiteracy in the community.
Nammara confided that the Project will help the community to learn how to help others and bring hope to the families in need and also help the orphaned children and their mother live a better life, reduce disease incidence arising from living in dilapidated condition.
