The Bishop of the Diocese of Kinkizi Rt Rev Dan Zoreka has appoited newly consecrated Canon John Patrick Amama Mbabazi as head Political Affairs in the Ðiocese whereas Dr Peace Kesiime Garuga was appointed the in charge of Career Guidànce .
Bishop Zoreka made the announcement today during the Consercration of the Canons of the Church of Uganda at a colorful ceremony that took place at St Peter’s Cathedral Nyakatare in Kanungu District.
Other Lay Canons who were consercrated included Kanungu District Health Officer Dr Birungi Mutahunga, the former Kanungu District Education Officer Sunday Charles and Sam Katebire while the Clergy Canons are the Dean of St Peter’s Cathedral Ven Richard Tumwebaze, Kashayo Archdeacon Rev Eunice Maririze and Kihihi Archdeacon Rev Herbert Kiconco.
The position of the Lay Canon is the highest in the Church of Uganda and it’s bestowed to Christians who have served the Church unreservedly.
While preaching at the event, Bishop Zoreka asked the newly consecrated Canons of the Church to work hard for the development of the church in the Diocese and the Province of the Church of Uganda at large.
Rt Hon Canon Amama Mbabazi who was accompanied by his wife Canon Jackline Mbabazi who is also the Minister of State for the Elderly who spoke on behalf of the newly consecrated Canons thanked the Diocese of the Church of Uganda for identifying them and pledged support and later hosted the guests at his residence in Karubeizi in Nyakinoni Sub-county in Kanungu District.
