NEWS- The Traffic Police in Rubanda District have registered an accident a fatal accident that took place at Mugwarubale village in Rubanda Town Council along Kabale – Kisoro road.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident that involved Trailer registration number UBN 553L/ UBF 738X and motorcycle registration number UMA 678AX.
Maate identified the dead as 38 year old man Akwankwasa Brain and a resident of Kabirizi Cell in Rubanda Town Council who was a passenger on the Motorcycle who died on spot while the rider who was not immediately identified was rushed to nearby healthcentre for medication.
Its alleged the above mentioned Motorcycle rider waa coming from Kabale side heading to Rubanda failed to negotiate a sharp corner while due to overspeeding ended up applying brakes abruptly this made the Motorcycle to starger hence throwing him into the tyres of the oncoming Trailer from the opposite direction killing the passenger on spot and leaving the rider injured.
Maate explained that scene was visited and documented by Rubanda District Traffic Officer Abantu Harbert, assisted by District Scene of Crime Detective Sargent Mbabazi and team of crime intelligence and the dead body was conveyed to Muko Health Centre IV Mortuary for postmortem examination and while the Motorvehicle and the Motorcycle were towed to Rubanda Police Station pending inspection.
