Rubanda District Chief Administrative Officer Sam Ahabwe has told the newly sworn-in District Public Accounts Committee to put public interest first and use evidence, not assumptions.
While addressing the newly approved District Public Accounts Committee, the CAO made it categorically clear that their position was not ceremonial, byt a key institution for accountability that ascertain value for money.
He tasked the team to review audits, scrutinize spending, demand explanations, and ensure compliance with laws and procedures.
He asked thrm to remain independent and work without fear or favour, guided by records and evidence and be able to meet deadlines and work with finance, audit, procurement and other departments and give specific, evidence-based, actionable recommendations.
Ahabwd also thanked the District Chairman Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba, the RDC Sam Ssewandigi and other stakeholders for their guidance and appreciated the outgoing members for the work weldone during their time.
