NEWS- Rubanda District is set to recruit over 150 primary school teachers under the Additional Fund from the State Minister for Finance, General Duties, Hon. Henry Musasizi. This was revealed by the Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson, Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, at the burial of Josephine Kaburahona.

The late Josephine Kaburahona, 106, passed away on Thursday and was the mother of 10 children, five of whom are still alive. She had 49 grandchildren and over 70 great-grandchildren. Notably, four of her children are teachers.

Addressing the mourners in Butaare-Katojo Town Council, Chairman Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba said that in this financial year, before the end of February, they plan to recruit 150 primary school teachers, with a focus on hiring female teachers. Additionally, 20 deputy headteachers will be promoted, and 38 headteachers in acting capacities will be confirmed.

The Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson, Mr. Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, challenged Minister Musasizi to increase the wages of health workers in the budget. Kasyaba emphasized the need for more midwives in Rubanda District, specifically requesting 30 midwives to address the current shortage.

He also requested funding of over 400 million shillings for the construction of offices for Butaare-Katojo Town Council. Furthermore, he appealed to Minister Musasizi for financial support towards the completion of St. Michael Hamutora Catholic Church.

The Rubanda West MP, Moses Kamuntu Mwongyera, raised concerns about the high rate of school dropouts and theft in the area. He criticized parents who engage school-going children in domestic work.

State Minister for Finance, General Duties, Hon. Henry Musasizi, who also serves as the Rubanda East MP, rooted for village security teams to curb the high rate of criminality in the area. He pledged to engage with the district and regional security teams to address the issue.

Minister Musasizi challenged the public to embrace government programs aimed at reducing poverty among communities. He supported the construction of St. Michael Hamutora with 10 million shillings, which will be delivered by Chairman Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba.

Additionally, Minister Musasizi pledged to engage with Minister Ruth Nankabirwa regarding transformers to facilitate power connections in Rubanda.
