NEWS– The Police in Rubanda District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 41year old man identified as Gordon Asimwe who was allegedly assaulted by the wife Fortunate Kesande and died days later.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told journalists today morning that the assault took place on Christmas day after the man developed quarrel with the wife where he picked an axe which was in the compound ready to hit the wife who stood up and started struggling with the husband to remove the axe from him.
Its reported that during the scuffle, the axe hit him on the forehead causing a big injury and he remained at his home seeking medical care from a traditional healer on the wound.
However, on 4th January 2024 pain increased and the wife called one Bigyemano Francis and informed him of what happened who went and reported at Bunyonyi Police Post a case of assault and later rushed him to Rugarama Hospital in Kabale where he was admitted until on 8th January 2024 when he was referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital but succumbed to the injury yesterday.
Maate said that the Police visited the scene of the crime where they recovered the axe used in the scuffle and recorded statements from relevant witness an the wife of the deceased was arrested to help in investigations.Â
