The Police in Rukiga District have registered a single fatal road accident where one life was lost at Rushebeya swamp along Kisiizi Rushebeya Muhanga murrum road.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed that the accident that took place yesterday evening involved a tricycle registration number UGB 212V and it’s passenger Byaruhanga Ben aged 30 years old and a resident of Katabonwa village in Kiyanza Parish in Rwentobo Town Council Ntungamo District.
It’s alleged that the rider of the tricycle was riding from Rushebeya side heading to Muhanga when he had dangerously loaded it with 26 full bags of charcoal and one passenger now the deceased who had sat on the top of the load and on reaching the Rushebeya swamp a few metres from the Rushebeya trading centre, he tried to dodge a pot hole, lost control and overturned and his passenger died on the spot.
The scene was visited by the Police and the body was taken to Rwentobo Health Centre IV Mortuary for postmortem examination and the tricycle is now parked at Rukiga Central Police Station pending Inspector of Vehicles inspection as investigations continue.
